What is the Information Commons?
The Harold B. Lee Information Commons is a state-of-the-art educational technology facility that integrates a variety of learning services in one location.
The Information Commons helps students collaborate with peers and consult with faculty, teaching assistants or tutors. Multimedia technology is also available to more effectively produce course work and other projects.
Services include:
- Print reference collection with most commonly used materials
- Traditional library help finding good information
- Application software support
- Campus services
The Information Commons offers 34 workstations, including:
- 4 consultation stations with scanners
- 53 individual workstations (18 with scanners, 45 without)
- 34 collaborative learning stations (18 with scanners, 14 without)
- 14 two-person stations
- 10 three-person stations
- 8 four/five-person stations
- 2 computers with screen writing software
- 6 multimedia workstations
- 4 Macs
- 2 PCs
- 2 creative learning rooms (technology-enhanced group study rooms)
- 3 cameras for check-out (2 video, 1 still)
- 2 self-service dubbing racks
- 3 Macromedia stations
