Mission
The mission of the Library Instruction Department is to assist library patrons by:
- carefully integrating library instruction into the BYU curriculum, working closely with faculty to help students learn effective research strategies and skills; and
- offering a variety of supplementary learning opportunities, including point-of-use materials, lectures and demonstrations, hands-on practice, one-on-one instruction, and web-based tutorials and tests; and
- disseminating as widely as possible through whatever means available the principles of information literacy -- the understanding of how information is created, transferred, preserved, manipulated, corrupted, used, misused, and lost -- and helping people learn how to live effectively in the information-rich world of the 21st century.
