Here are 4 ways the Lee Library LRC can help you!

1.  Video assignments – You want your students to view certain videos during the semester.  Here are some ways the LRC and the Office of IT can help you:

  1. Course Reserve – Bring in your video (VHS or DVD) to the LRC.  We’ll put it on reserve for your students.  We’ll give you the call number to put in your syllabus, that’s all your students need to tell us when they come to watch the video.  CD, audio cassette and CDROM materials can also be placed on Course Reserve.  Call the LRC secretary for more information at ext. 2-4581.
  2. Temporary Reserve – If the video you’ve assigned is one the library owns, we can reserve it for your students during the period of time you specify (usually two weeks).  That way it will be available to your students when they need to watch it.  CD, audio cassette and CDROM materials can also be placed on Temporary Reserve.  To make a reservation, call the LRC at ext. 2-1623.
  3. Campus Television – Many of the videos in the library can be scheduled for viewing on Campus Television.  Students can view programming in the LRC and campus housing.  It is also available in offices and TEC rooms.  You can schedule multiple showings at various times to accommodate your students’ schedules.  Just call the Office of IT at ext. 2-4000 to make arrangements.
  4. Classroom Delivery – If you want to show a video from the library during class time, it can be delivered right to the classroom.  The equipment needed to view the video can delivered as well if needed.  All you have to do is show up and press ‘Play.’  To make arrangements, call the Office of IT at ext. 2-4000.
  5. Class/Group Viewing in the LRC – Maybe your class or groups within your class need to view a video together to facilitate group interaction.  The LRC has three small viewing rooms that accommodate 5-7 people and two TEC rooms that seat 47, great for almost any class or group.  These rooms can be scheduled by faculty or students in person at the LRC or by calling ext. 2-1623.

2.  Research – Need to do some research?  The LRC houses over 13,000 videos and over 27,000 audio titles.  Here are a few ways we can get you what you need:

  1. Come in person – Need an excuse to get out of the office and stretch your legs?  Come on over and our knowledgeable staff will gladly help you find what you need.
  2. Send a TA or RA – Have your TA/RA stop by the circulation desk to pick up a proxy card form to fill out and for you to sign.  Once they have their proxy card, they can check out items in the LRC for you, (Faculty Use Videos excluded.)
  3. Use Faculty Delivery Service – Deadlines have you locked in your office for days on end?  No problem.  Faculty Delivery Service has added LRC materials to their repertoire.  Just make a request from the library catalog or call ext. 2-5282 to have the audio or video materials you need delivered to your department office Monday through Friday afternoons, Faculty Use Videos excluded.

3. Video Preview – Is there a video the library doesn’t have that you may want to incorporate into your curriculum?  Many vendors offer a preview service.  Simply call the Video Preview Secretary at ext. 2-4677 so you can view the video and make an informed decision.  Plan on one to two weeks to get the video in.
