Style Manuals
When writing a research paper, direct quotations, excerpts, or ideas which are not the writer’s must be documented to credit its source, give weight to a thesis or argument, and/or avoid infringing copyright. A style guide or manual gives the prescribed format for typing these footnotes, endnotes, and bibliographies for a specific field of study.
- Print versions: The General Reference Desk, Level 3, has copies of most style manuals.
- Electronic versions: Electronic versions are available here.
