Project Management Foundations

Task-based

One of the strengths of INDI is its focus on workflow, which allows the system to provide some rudimentary project management for archival processing. INDI’s task-based workflow validation also promotes collaboration among processing units, monitoring the assignment of tasks to different groups as well as the overall process. At the heart of each project is its workflow. These diagrams Accession workfloware documented within INDI in XML descriptions, which guide the progress of the project. As the project progresses tasks are assigned to various individuals based on their role in the organization, as defined in the workflow description.

Comparisons

INDI includes functionality similar to many different project management applications. In its general layout it is similar to Basecamp, a Web-based project collaboration tool. However, on the back-end INDI’s focus on archival data requirements sets it apart from any other project management tool.
