Reference Activity
Total transactions come from data reported to ARL. The totals for 2001 and 2002 are from the actual daily recorded transactions carried out over the course of the year. The totals for 2003 are estimates based on data collected from hours that were selected via a simple random sample during the year.
Reference transaction types and Directional activities were not specifically distinguished from one another until 2003. The numbers reflect the actual transactions that occurred during the sampled hours.
Ready Reference
Note that transaction type totals do not match the sum of totals for how the transaction was received. This is due to incomplete data supplied by respective reference areas. These figures were used to derive the yearly totals.
Total Transactions
The totals for 2001 and 2002 include Directional transactions. Though Directional figures are still tracked, since 2003, these figures have not been included in totals submitted to ARL; hence the significant drop in yearly total for 2003 shown at the bottom of the table.
Office Consultation
Office consultations for 2007 were estimated due to a mix of sampled and 100% collecting.
